Every WWE ECW Ever - ECW 19 (10/17/2006)

WWE ECW 19 - 10/17/2006

Welcome back! We are almost to episode twenty, thus post #20 of this series! However, on the penultimate episode, it is said it is a double-header main event. Highlighted by a Singapore cane on a pole match. I'm interested!

Match #1: The Sandman vs. Matt Striker (Singapore Cane/Kendo Stick Match)

Well then, this is a good way to start the night after having no weapons the show before. Quick note: they love to say Matt Striker is a "disgraced" New York school teacher. How is that a good thing? Was he beating the kids? Is that something you want to brag about?

The Kendo Stick being on a pole is stupid, but at least we know it will be used. The match is good, but you're basically waiting for the kendo stick to come down from the pole. The two take turns punching one another and doing moves until they try at the stick again. Striker is actually the one who retrieves it at first. Feels weird for him to be smacking Sandman with it, and Sandman quickly takes it back. It's almost like Matt Striker wasn't doing it right, so Sandman takes it back and shows him how it's done.

Striker is busted open, and upon seeing this, decides it's best to retreat to the back. Sandman is determined the winner by way of forfeit? What a dumb way to lose. Just take your licking like a man.

Winner: The Sandman
Match Rating: Funny
Weapons: Kendo Stick (1)

Match #2: CM Punk vs. Rene Dupree

Looks like we are going to do this one again. I guess that's fine... but if Punk is just going to keep eating up wins, can't we have, I don't know, anyone else lose to Punk? Where is Roadkill? Nunzio? Danny Doring?

Whatever. It's a good match, but goes as expected. Punk controls, with Dupree getting in some offense here and there. Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice and this one is over. Yawn. Come on man.

Mike Knox does run in after the match, but Punk knocks him out of the ring quickly. Knox will just not come in and face him afterwards, though. This match will come to blows soon, I'm sure.

Winner: CM Punk
Match Rating: Boring
Weapons: None

New backstage reporter named Rebecca can't speak but she is absolutely beautiful. You can tell they found and said "whatever, let's just get her in so we can get her naked!"

Match #3: Test vs. Balls Mahoney

Test comes out first and berates the crowd, telling them how much they suck, and how awesome he is. You know, standard stuff. Balls has had enough and gets right into his face, asking for a match, which Test laughs off, but Balls attacks him, a ref comes out, and we have a match anyway.

Test controls for a large portion of this match until Balls finally makes his comeback. However, right before a big wind up punch, Test reverses it with a big boot. He hits his F-5 like finisher, and we have a winner.

Winner: Test
Match Rating: Squash
Weapons: None

Match #4: Shannon Moore vs. Sabu

There better be some chairs in this god damn match. I can't believe there are going to be 5 matches in total, as well. All the matches were pretty quick, but I still enjoyed the majority of them so far. How about Shannon Moore getting all those promos, and then getting squashed three straight matches to start your ECW career?

Sabu wins after a few moves on the top rope, ending with a leg drop. No chairs. What the FUCK. Sabu looks kind of pissed about it too, to be honest. But it was a decent squash match regardless.

Winner: Sabu
Match Rating: Squash
Weapons: None

Rebecca the Sexy Robot Reporter interviews Big Show, who just talks about how amazing he is, and whatever. Cool promo, I guess. I skipped part of it.

Match #5: The Big Show vs. Rob Van Dam

This was a good match. Just feels like I have seen this match a few times now. It is hard to get excited to see these two go at it night after night. Reminds me of current WWE where the rivalries are every week and they face each other every damn time. It's exhausting to an extent.

However, this is a redemption angle, where the last time Big Show and RVD went one on one, it was a different scenario. It was when Heyman turned on RVD. However, the best part is the ending, when the ref is knocked out, and the RIOT minions are able to hold up RVD from hitting a 5 Star Frog Splash. Test then makes an appearance and uses a chair to the ribs of RVD. However, out of nowhere, Test takes a chair shot by Hardcore Holly! Someone is turning face!

Holly smacks Big Show with said chair as well, setting up for Frog Splash and an RVD victory. He will get another chance at the ECW title belt.

Winner: Rob Van Dam
Match Rating: Entertaining
Weapons: Chair (1)

Not a bad show as compared to the previous show. We get two weapons used this week which is more than zero, but still less than what you'd like to see. Thanks for reading!
